TikTok Shopping

TikTok Shopping is the set of commerce features inside TikTok that let brands sell products directly through short videos, live streams, and a profile-level shop tab. Shoppers see a product card or tagged item in the feed, tap it, and check out without leaving the app, all powered by TikTok's own catalogue and payment flow.

The basic idea is that a creator or brand posts a short video, tags one or more products in the frame, and a small product card appears alongside the clip. A viewer can tap that card, read details, and buy without ever leaving TikTok. The same products also show up in a Shop tab on the brand's profile, and during live streams sellers can pin items so viewers can grab them while watching.

TikTok Shopping leans on three things working together: the algorithm that pushes a clip into a stranger's feed, the creator who makes it feel like a recommendation instead of an ad, and the in-app checkout that removes the usual jump from social to website. For categories that demo well on video, like beauty, fashion, and home, the format has become a real channel rather than just a top-of-funnel one.

Availability is the catch. TikTok Shop is live in markets like the US, UK, and parts of Southeast Asia, but it is not currently open as a native shop in India, where TikTok itself is banned. Indian brands that want the same look and feel, short product video with tap-to-buy, usually rebuild it on their own site or store using a shoppable video tool.

On beyondRegular

For an Indian D2C brand, native TikTok Shop is not an option, so the workaround is to bring the same experience to your own store. With beyondRegular you can import the short videos you already shoot for Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts, tag your products in the frame, and place the clips on your product page, home page, or as a floating bubble. The shopper taps the tag, sees the price in INR from your catalogue, and checks out through your existing Razorpay, Shopify Payments, or other gateway. You get the swipe-and-buy feel of TikTok Shopping without depending on a platform you cannot access.

Common questions

Is TikTok Shopping available in India?

No. TikTok itself is not operational in India, so TikTok Shop is not a channel Indian brands can sell on directly. If you want the same shoppable short-video experience for Indian shoppers, the practical route is to put tap-to-buy videos on your own website or Shopify store using a shoppable video tool, and drive traffic through Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and WhatsApp instead.

How is TikTok Shopping different from shoppable video on my own site?

TikTok Shopping lives inside the TikTok app and uses TikTok's checkout and catalogue. Shoppable video on your own site lives on your store, uses your product pages, and checks out through your own gateway like Razorpay or Shopify Payments. The viewing experience can feel similar, short clip with tappable products, but you own the customer, the data, and the order, which matters a lot for repeat purchase and COD in India.
