Interactive video

Interactive video is video a viewer can act on instead of only watch. Tappable hotspots, buttons, or choices sit on top of the clip, so a shopper can open a product, add it to cart, or jump to another video from inside the frame. In commerce, the action is usually buying.

DefinitionsInteractive video

Interactive video is video a viewer can act on instead of only watch. Tappable hotspots, buttons, or choices sit on top of the clip, so a shopper can open a product, add it to cart, or jump to another video from inside the frame. In commerce, the action is usually buying.

A standard video runs in one direction and the viewer just watches. Interactive video adds touch points on top of the picture: a tag on a product, a button, or a choice that branches to another clip. The viewer stops being an audience and starts steering, which is what makes the format useful for selling rather than just telling.

Shoppable video is the commerce version of this. The interactive layer is product tags: tap one and the price, name, and an add-to-cart button appear without the clip ever stopping or sending the shopper away. The video keeps playing while the buying happens over it, so interest does not cool off into a separate search.

The interactive layer is separate from the footage, so the same clip can be reused, retagged, and dropped on different pages. You are not re-editing the video to change what it sells. You are changing the tags that sit on top of it.

On beyondRegular

On beyondRegular, interactive video is how a plain reel becomes a buying surface. You import a clip from Instagram, TikTok, or an upload, then tag the products in the frame so each one becomes tappable. The tags pull price and stock from your store catalogue, so Indian shoppers see INR and add to cart without leaving the video, and checkout still runs through your own gateway, Razorpay, PayU, CCAvenue, Cashfree, or Shopify Payments.

Common questions

What is the difference between interactive video and shoppable video?

Interactive video is the broad idea: any video a viewer can act on, through taps, buttons, or branching choices. Shoppable video is the commerce form of it, where the interactive layer is product tags that let a shopper add to cart from inside the clip. All shoppable video is interactive video, but not every interactive video sells something.

Does interactive video need a special player or app?

No. On most stores it is one widget you embed on the page, and on Shopify it is a theme app embed with no code. The interactive tags are drawn over the video by the widget, so the shopper just taps inside the clip on a normal browser. There is nothing for them to download and no app to open.
