DefinitionsInstagram Reels for commerce

Instagram Reels for commerce means using short vertical videos on Instagram to sell products, either through in-app shopping tags, link stickers, and DMs, or by repurposing the same Reels on your own store as shoppable video. The goal is to turn watch time into product views and add-to-carts.

A Reel is a 15 to 90 second vertical video built for sound on, fast cuts, and a clear hook in the first two seconds. For commerce, the same clip pulls double duty. On Instagram it drives discovery through the Reels feed, Explore, and shares to DMs. On your store, the same footage can sit as a shoppable clip on the product page or home page.

On Instagram itself, the shopping surface keeps changing. Product tagging in Reels is available in some regions and categories, link stickers work in Stories, and many Indian brands still rely on the link in bio, comment automations, and DM replies to push a viewer to checkout. That round trip from Reel to bio link to product page is where most drop-off happens.

The fix most D2C brands use is to take the Reels that already perform and replant them on the store. Same hook, same creator, same product, but now the price tag and the buy button are right there in the frame. The Reel keeps doing the storytelling job and the on-site widget does the conversion job.

On beyondRegular

With beyondRegular you do not have to reshoot anything. Import your existing Reels straight from Instagram on the Starter plan or above, tag the products that appear in the clip, and place them on your Shopify or custom store as a carousel, a floating bubble, or a full reel feed. Indian shoppers see INR prices from your catalogue, checkout runs through your own Razorpay, Shopify Payments, or Cashfree gateway, and on Pro the Shopify web pixel attributes the order back to the Reel that drove it.

Common questions

Can I just embed my Instagram Reel on my product page instead of using a widget?

You can embed the raw Instagram iframe, but it carries the Instagram UI, a follow button, and a route back into the Instagram app. That is good for credibility, bad for staying on your checkout. A shoppable video widget plays the same clip without the social chrome and adds a tappable price tag, so the shopper goes from watch to cart on your own domain instead of bouncing to Instagram.

Do I need different videos for Instagram Reels and for on-site shoppable video?

Not at the start. The same vertical clip works in both places, which is why import from Instagram exists. Over time you will notice that on-site viewers already know your brand, so you can use slightly longer or more product-focused cuts on the store, and keep the punchy hook-driven version for the Reels feed where you are still fighting for the first two seconds of attention.
